Take the First Step. Make Federation your first choice for study in 2022.

Why Federation should be your choice for future study

As Victoria's premier regional university, we are known for our modern approach to teaching and learning, leading employment outcomes for graduates and student support that follows students well beyond graduation.

Most importantly, we understand that the transition to further study can be daunting especially in such uncertain times. That's why we have developed several initiatives to assist Federation's future students.

Early Offer Program

Finishing high school can be stressful, so why not give yourself peace of mind with Federation University's Early Offer Program. Available to most undergraduate degrees, the Early Offer Program allows future students to secure their place in a degree in the December VTAC offer round, alleviating stress around final exams. Combined Pathway Program

Perhaps you have finished your TAFE qualification and are now looking to gain a higher qualification or maybe you wished to go to University but your year 12 results didn't go to plan - the Combined Pathway program gives students a direct pathway from TAFE to a university undergraduate degree. For more information on programs with combined pathways click here.

Work Integrated Learning and Industry Placement Program

Our industry experience programs allow students to boost their employability and have led us to be consistently ranked #1 for graduate outcomes.

Across all programs and courses at Federation, students have the opportunity to participate in Work Integrated Learning (WIL), industry-based projects and Federation's Industry Placement Program (IPP) where students undertake a placement of up to 26 weeks with a host organisation in the same field of their studies. For more information on career support for students or to hear some stories of students who have undergone placement - click here.

Celebrating 150 Years of Education

150 years ago the School of Mines was established, based on recommendations of the Ballarat Mining Board in 1869. The original motivation was to fill a shortage of mine managers for the goldfields. Classes began in surveying, mathematics, chemistry – and a decade later they included metallurgy, assaying and geology. As the third oldest education provider in Australia, the Federation University of today has that same purpose.

We are a modern, progressive university providing high-quality vocational and higher education. Our network now extends across Victoria – from Ballarat, Berwick, Gippsland and the Wimmera – to our campus in Brisbane which focuses on education for international students. We also offer our programs through partner providers across Australian capital cities and have overseas partnerships in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. Our campuses are not just places of learning but thriving centres which offer art galleries, childcare, health and fitness facilities, student accommodation, events and clubs.

Aboriginal Education Centre

The Aboriginal Education Centre (AEC) has a strong and vibrant cultural presence at Federation University with 5 offices based across the following campuses - Mt Helen, SMB, Wimmera, Berwick and Gippsland and is the central location for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander matters at Federation University.

We assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and can also refer students to services and support at Federation University and other community organisations.

Our computer labs are open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and community members.

We welcome all students, staff and community members to contact us and contribute to the life of the Centre.
